Mantle

Mantle is the next layer of Earth. Being the third layer from the surface of the earth; the mantle is between the moho and the outer core. The mantle is made up of semi-solid magma and is nearly 1,860 miles. The mantle makes up 83% of Earth's entire volume and

63% of Earth's total mass. The mantle is composed of dense silicate minerals rich in the heavy element of iron. The chemistry of the mantle can be predicted from the chemistry of basalt. On average the mantle is 3000° celcuis or 5432° fahrenheit. Although the mantle is compact it can be contorted into a plastic like form. The mantle is divided into three main sections; the lithosphere, the asthenosphere, and the mesosphere.
